I agree with all of the comments, as a musician I believe much can be accompolished through the arts, especially music. As we all know music is the international language.

i virtually lived in the king eddy in the 80,s and 90's and knew jack karp the owner well enough as he was from the north end of winnipeg where i grew up.one afternoon i walked into his office and and suggested that he bring in a zydeco band, now jack didnt know zydeco from klezmer but he handed me the booking agencies list and said to pick someone who i knew,i had heard buckwheat zydeco so i suggested them, the rest is history, buckwheat and band drove from lafayette, louisiana and arrived in minus 39 weather!their strings, reeds and voices broke but that began a long love affair with the band and the music lovers of calgary.by thurs of the first week it was sro as it was every time they played.i saw so many greats at the eddy, etta james, pinetop perkins, luther johnson, robert cray, eddy clearwater, gatemouth brown, sheryl crow, john hammond, jeff healey and chuck berrys arranger and piano player the amazing johnnie johnson.there were many more that slip my mind. the eddy also had tons of ATMOSPHERE which made it so special

I played the Eddy years back with blues great Clarence Gatemouth Brown. The Eddy was never just another blues bar... something in the soul/history of the structure brought out our best every time we played there. Today I'm just passing through town on tour, but would love to have the option of hearing a band at the Eddy again. This is the first I've heard of Cantos and their National Music Center. I realize this concept is much more than just recreating the King Edward, but I'll support anyone that will help preserve the name and history of the Eddy.
All the Best,
~Terry Townson

I've enjoyed the visit at the present location and what I would like to see is something that the late Stuart Kennedy would like to happen. That's a pipe organ room with
the theatre organ and possibly another Church organ with no carpet and proper accoustic elements to make
these instruments perform at their peak. Stuart was a Organist, Casavant rep and Pipe Organ Tuner and
new how to fix them. He taught me alot on how an organ should sound and
be played. I'ts to bad there is not
enough interest in young people these days to learn such a great instrument as they say it takes to long and that's why we have so many
praise bands and not enough good organist that know how to make things
happen.

I believe the reference to "silence" is to contrast the urban from the rural. Although their are sounds in the Praries, it the sound of silence... wind, animals, rain etc., and not the sounds of urban life.

This architecture has the potential to be a milestone design in the history of architecture. Time will tell. Calgary is heading in the right direction... well done!

I create artificial hand carved rock for walls and artistic creations. I would like to send you an example of my work. I know you will be impressed and maybe I can create something for you. Please let me know how I can send it. E-mailing would be the best.
